Laurentian University Faculty Association says there are positive points in the institution’s new budget but disappointed it doesn’t ‘lay a foundation for better working conditions’
The Laurentian University Faculty Association said Friday that there is much to love about the university’s 2023-2024 budget, which was approved April 28 by the board of governors, but the spending plan does fall short in at least one area, the association said.
“We are disappointed that this latest budget downplays the concessions made by faculty members during the Companies Creditors Arrangement Act process," said LUFA President Fabrice Colin. The concessions Colin is referring to includes the five-per-cent pay cut faculty took in 2021, the salary freeze in 2022 and the five days of unpaid leave faculty absorbed.
