There’s a new twist to the sale of the Ottawa Senators.
Burkle bought the Pittsburgh Penguins out of bankruptcy with Mario Lemieux in 1999 and last year they sold their majority interest in the franchise to the Fenway Sports Group for $875 million.
Ranadivé, 65, made a bid to purchase London-based Chelsea FC last year, but the club sold for $3.2 billion to Todd Boehly, a part-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers.Article content When NHL commissioner Gary Bettman was in Ottawa last month, he said there were “about a half-dozen” bids for the franchise.
