Formerly known as Light up the Lake, Kicking Pancreas was the second-biggest run on the Island before COVID-19 hit. Craig’s Cause Pancreatic Cancer Society founder Stefanie Condon-Oldreive said she is thrilled to see the five-kilometre walk/run return in-person after three years of virtual events. “COVID-19 has made significant challenges for both health-care professionals and patients during a cancer diagnosis,” said Condon-Oldreive.Pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality rate of all major cancers. It is the 12th most commonly diagnosed cancer but is the third leading cause of cancer deaths, surpassing breast cancer deaths in 2020.
Event participants can pick up their race kit at the Charlottetown Running Room on March 31 from 5-7 p.m. On April 1, participants will meet up with others at the Joseph A. Ghiz Memorial Park at 7:30 p.m. for the event. All abilities and ages are welcome, and participants are encouraged to wear the colour purple, costumes and glow-in-the-dark items.It has been our privilege to have the trust and support of our East Coast communities for the last 200 years.
