Keith Sullivan, who’s been with the FFAW for 18 years—with the last eight years as president—will stay on until a replacement is elected in the new year.
The announcement comes exactly one month after Derek Butler announced he was also leaving after 19 years as executive director of the Association of Seafood Producers. Sullivan insists there’s no single reason for leaving now, other than he felt the time was right for him and the FFAW. He says his health is fine, as far as he knows, adding he has nothing lined up yet for life after the FFAW.
Since Sullivan’s resignation comes between conventions, the union will embark on a separate process to elect a new leader. The nomination period opens on December 15 and closes on December 29, with the election to take place at a joint council meeting on January 5.
