With an agreement on increased federal transfers to the provinces and territories for health care inching forward, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Monday his opposition to the pre-emptive use of the notwithstanding clause is not a deal-breaker. “I know Canadians need us to come together to solve health care for the medium and long term,” Trudeau said at a Toronto news conference.
“And that’s exactly what we’re working on with the premiers right now. We’re going to continue to work collaboratively on the things that Canadians expect us to do.”
