Injured skier rescued from backcountry near Mount Kitchener
An injured backcountry skier was rescued from a remote area northwest of Campbell River on Saturday afternoon.
A team of volunteer rescuers travelled to the area by helicopter, and two members skied to the injured man to assess his injuries. Darcy said the process was made significantly faster because the man was carrying a satellite messenger that can initiate an SOS response to local authorities.
