Pacey Dumas\u0027s life changed forever when an Edmonton police officer kicked him in the head.
Steinke-Attia said her client is also considering the uncommon step of launching a private criminal prosecution against Todd.Thursday, ASIRT executive director Michael Ewenson said Todd kicked Dumas Dec. 9, 2020, while responding to his mother’s home after a 911 call from a third party claiming a male had a knife at another location.
An independent eyewitness said one of the officers yelled at Dumas then kicked him in the face “as if you’re kicking … a soccer ball.” Dumas’s unconscious body was then handcuffed, until paramedics repeatedly asked police to remove the restraints and rushed him to hospital. Dumas spent nine days in hospital, during which a piece of skull was removed to relieve pressure on his swelling brain.
