Students pick Marianne Alto in Victoria, Dean Murdock in Saanich
Students in elementary, middle and high schools around the capital region cast ballots for municipal politicians in a mock election Thursday and Friday, picking Marianne Alto as mayor in Victoria, Dean Murdock in Saanich and incumbents Stew Young and Maja Tait in Langford and Sooke, respectively.
Schools are grouped by municipalities and regional districts in Student Vote, which counted seven Victoria schools reporting their votes, along with eight Saanich schools, six Langford schools and three Sooke schools among its provincial total of 435 submitting results.
