Campbell McClintock, left, and Nathan Thorburne share a laugh last summer in Halifax. - Andrew RankinCampbell McClintock has seen how bad things can get for many living rough.
McClintock is an outreach worker with Out of the Cold. He describes it as being on the frontline of people’s daily trauma. “I’ve encountered many people living outside who have been housed in the same apartment for the past decade and never missed a rent payment.” Rental prices in Halifax continue to climb and are among the highest in the country. Inflation is also making an already untenable housing situation worse.
McClintock, 28, says he’s inspired by people's generosity in the weeks leading up to Christmas. But he and the people he serves hope it continues.
