When the search was narrowed to three candidates — Dyce, Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive co-ordinator Mark Washington and Toronto Argonauts defensive co-ordinator Corey Mace — Burke, the Redblacks general manager, thought back to the final four games of his team’s 2022 season. With Dyce as Redblacks interim head coach following the firing of Paul LaPolice, there seemed to be a new energy, a firecracker lit under the players.
