• The provincial government announced a $2-million replacement of Sangster’s Bridge in Upper Falmouth. It was noted it would be replaced during the summer months to limit disruption to students who have to cross the bridge to attend Windsor Forks Elementary School. • Neighbours were looking to permanently honour a 16-year-old Coldbrook boy, who was described as being fun-loving and generous, after he died in a car accident prior to Christmas. Work was underway to upgrade the park at the Pinewood and Royal Estates subdivision and to rename it in honour of Brandon Smith. His 17-year-old brother, Jared, was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries as a result of the Highway 101 accident.
• The Windsor Agricultural Society welcomed well-known Falmouth agriculturalist Bev Connell as its president. • The Windsor Rotary Club pledged $2,000 in support for the Newport and District Rink Commission as construction on the new arena in Brooklyn progressed. • Glenn Mosher, of the 3-Cornered 4-H Club, won the Duffray Trophy for being the top 4-H Guernsey member in Nova Scotia in 1972.
• Among real estate listings was an eight-room farmhouse, with bathroom, situated on 109 acres in Falmouth. The asking price was $32,000. The offer included two barns and a shed.
