The municipality issued a tender for a drone and a remotely operated vehicle . They also want two-year service agreements and training for four pilots for each device.In an email, HRP spokesman Const. John MacLeod said both devices will be used for water-based investigations. “Halifax Regional Police is responsible for investigations in all of Halifax Harbour from McNab's Island in, the North West Arm and many lakes and smaller waterways,” he said. “The intended use for the Remotely Operated Vehicle is for water-based search and rescue incidents as well as the search and recovery of evidence in bodies of water.”
The drone is a new piece of equipment that will allow police to conduct investigations involving bodies of water in a more efficient manner, he said. Halifax Regional Police are looking to purchase a DJI Matrice 30T drone to assist with water-based investigations. - DJI
