RCMP say residents of the Westwood Hills subdivision of Tantallon must leave immediately
Residents in a Halifax-area neighbourhood are being asked to evacuate their homes immediately as a rapidly moving fire engulfs multiple houses northwest of downtown.
RCMP say in a public advisory that residents of the Westwood Hills subdivision of Tantallon must leave immediately. A provincial emergency alert issued on cellphones says the evacuation has been ordered due to “multiple structure and forest fires.” A spokesperson with the provincial Department of Natural Resources says local firefighters and two helicopters are on the scene.The emergency alert directed residents to a comfort centre opened at Black Point and Area Community Centre.
