Residents in Goulais River Watershed advised that ice jams are possible and that water levels can change very quickly if ice jams occur
A flood watch was issued Wednesday for Goulais River by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry in the Sault Ste. Marie – Blind River District.
The current warm temperatures will continue with a three-day forecast predicting daytime high temperatures between 16 and 18°C and with nighttime temperatures between 6 and 8°C, the ministry said in a news release. In addition, there is the possibility of 10mm rain predicted for Sunday. This water equivalency is well above the annual average for this time of year, the MNRF said. Risks may include significant degradation of ice, possible ice jams, and fast moving cold water with rapidly changing conditions.
