About 2,200 GO Transit workers are set to go on strike this Halloween.

“Our members are ready to walk the picket line to protect public transit for their families and their futures and the safety of the system,” Local President Rob Cormier said. “We know that this is not only about winning job security for frontline transit workers, but also that experienced maintenance workers are on the job to ensure the safety of the buses instead of outside companies unfamiliar with the fleet which hire people at the lowest of wages.
The ATU had said earlier it would not strike over the Thanksgiving weekend but asked the public to be prepared for job action later in October.
