University of Calgary students are concerned about the school\u0027s alert system, which they say failed to reach everyone during an incident.
While the incident was short-lived, some students were unnerved by what they considered lacking emergency communications from the university.
“Our expectations for such systems are they work every time, and we apologize to the campus community that they appear to have had challenges in this instance,” the university said. “We are committed to ensuring a reliable and effective communication system is in place for the UCalgary community and are taking the necessary steps to address the current gaps.”Article content
“Some people were panicking, some people left, some people just continued on their work,” said Arhaam Mukati, who was studying in the university’s Taylor Family Digital Library when the alert came through on his computer screen.
