There will be parking interruptions at downtown municipal parking lots from May 8 to 19 as the city undertakes geotechnical work
The work is taking place at the Shaughnessy Street parking lot next to the Sudbury Theatre Centre, as well as the Minto Street municipal parking lot across from the Sudbury Community Arena.
Until that point a $98.5-million project, Mayor Paul Lefebvre introduced a successful motion for it to be shaved down to $65 million, and for other potential locations to be investigated. “It was originally initiated as part of the additional due diligence associated with Junction East, but they’re going ahead and taking the opportunity to better identify/define where the bedrock is for that whole area, since that’s something they need to know for any development that goes in there whether it’s Junction East or something else.”
Drilling will impact up to 10 parking spaces in the Shaughnessy Street parking lot from May 8 to May 12, and up to 10 spaces in the Minto Street parking lot from May 15 to 19.
