GARRIOCH: Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds picks Remington Group to co-star in Senators bid Via SunGarrioch
While it may be a surprise that Reynolds and his Los Angeles-based production company Maximum Effort have aligned themselves with one group, a quick look at the projects The Remington Group has built in Southern Ontario makes it easy to understand why buying the Senators makes sense for everybody involved in the project.
The Remington Group is a historic real estate business that was led by longtime Toronto real estate moguls Rudy and Jerry Bratty. Rudy’s four sons — Matthew, Michael, Mark and Chris — have taken over the business in recent years and the company played a large role in the redevelopment of the community of Markham.
Getting Reynolds on board is a big win for Bratty and the Remington Group. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has stated publicly that he’d like to see Reynolds, who has kept in close touch with the league office, involved with whoever purchases the club from the Melnyk family. This newspaper has reported that if Reynolds is involved with the Senators, he plans to bring Maximum Effort here to produce a series on the purchase of the franchise along with the building of a new rink at LeBreton Flats.series that has been produced since Reynolds purchased a Wrexham FC with partner Rob McIlhenney in Wales. The Welcome to Wrexham series on Disney-plus gets huge ratings and gives people a glimpse at what life is like for the franchise.
