Former Mississauga mayor Hazel McCallion will lie in state starting on Sunday, Feb. 12 at Mississauga City Hall ahead of her state funeral next week.
“Residents and guests are encouraged to share their respects and express their sympathies to the McCallion family through the Books of Condolences,” the city said in a release.
Flags at City Hall and all city facilities have been lowered to half-mast and will remain so until Tuesday, Feb. 14 following the funeral.and will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Paramount Fine Foods Centre. Several dignitaries will be in attendance including Premier Doug Ford and Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie. A limited number of tickets will be available to the public beginning Feb. 9 at 12 p.m.or to the Hazel McCallion Charitable Foundation for Arts, Culture and Heritage.
