The Saint Mary’s Huskies overcame a two-goal deficit in the third period to edge the UPEI Panthers 3-2 in overtime on Jan. 11. The extra point earned by the third-place Huskies narrowed the gap on second-place UPEI to two points.The Panthers are 14-5-1-1 while the Huskies are 14-7-0-0. Each team has nine regular-season games remaining, including a head-to-head matchup at Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown on Jan. 27.
The Panthers took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission on captain Troy Lajeunesse’s power-play goal, and Kaleb Pearson’s second-period goal increased the advantage to 2-0 following 40 minutes.
