Nick Arbuckle was looking for something a bit different, something that might help him take another step forward as a quarterback in the Canadian Football League.
Arbuckle looks at it as another opportunity to stay sharp as he prepares to settle into a season as the No. 2 guy in Ottawa. Arbuckle knows he may not take many game snaps. But it’s all good.Article content
Arbuckle will turn 30 in October. But he figures he’s got plenty of mileage left in this arm and in his legs. “Ottawa was the place I wanted to be,” he said. “We really love the community. I wanted to stay with this organization, I believe in Coach Dyce and I’ve had a chance to talk with Khari , who I’ve heard nothing but great things about. Being in the quarterback room with Masoli is going to be great. I think the Redblacks have an opportunity to do something really special. I know we can. We have the ability to turn this thing around and build something RNation can really be proud of.
With Mitchell injured, Arbuckle got significant time as the Stampeders’ starter in 2019. He completed 174 passes for 2,103 yards and 11 touchdowns.
