Sudbury comes away with 114-85 victory on home court.
It was a beautiful, sunny Sunday afternoon April 16 in the Nickel City and 2,146 boisterous fans were in the Old Barn to take in a Sudbury Five matinee and cheer their team on to a 114-85 victory over the L’Academie D’Alma of The Basketball League.
With 10:22 remaining in the second quarter Notice found a hole in the defence and converted a tough layup to tie the game up at 34 apiece. With 3:48 remaining in the second quarter Mosby made another layup attempt, then converted on the ensuing foul to give Sudbury a 44-41 lead. With exactly three minutes remaining in the third quarter, JD Miller found Jeremy Harris wide open for a pass, who converted a dunk to give the Five a 46-41 lead.
Ten seconds into the third quarter Duane Notice converted on an alley oop pass from JD Miller to give Sudbury an 87-60 lead. With under ten minutes to go, JD Miller split the defense for a layup and also converted on the free throw to give Sudbury a 90-64 lead. With 3:24 remaining Dexter Williams Jr. served up an alley oop pass which Montell McRae converted to give Sudbury a 108-80 lead. The Sudbury came away with a win by a score of 114-85.
With the win, the Sudbury Five now have a record of 21 wins and 5 losses on the season and remain on top of the National Basketball League of Canada standings.
