Sudbury heads east for set of three against the Rogues of the TBL
After almost a month on the road, the Sudbury Five looked to stop a three-game losing skid when they returned home to the Nickel City on Sunday afternoon to take on the visiting Newfoundland Rogues of The Basketball League .The first quarter was a tight, defensive affair with both teams looking to assert themselves on the defensive end of the floor. Jeremy Harris opened up the scoring from beyond the arc to give the Five a 3-0 lead off the opening tipoff.
The Five opened up their game a bit in the second quarter with Dexter Williams starting the quarter to give the Five a 34-32 lead early in the middle frame. In the third quarter, the Rogues chipped away at the Five's lead, penetrating the defence and reduced the deficit to nine going into the final quarter, with a score of 81-72.
The Rogues were not done yet, though. Newfoundland found a way to crawl back in, being down 104-100 with just over a minute left to play, but that is as close as they would get on this night, as the Five came away with a 113-105 victory.
