Thanks to supporting the Nova Scotia Firefighters 50-50 draw, Kayla Eldridge of Falmouth is now a millionaire. FACEBOOK PHOTOFALMOUTH, N.S. — The reality of winning what is being called the largest 50-50 prize ever in the province has yet to fully sink in for a new Nova Scotia millionaire. She found out when her phone rang that evening.
She said she has played the Firefighters 50-50 before, but not for months. She is happy to support the fundraiser, as it is for a good cause. Volunteer firefighters are an important part of the community, giving of themselves to help others.Eldridge said on Dec. 29 that to win the prize feels somewhat surreal, and it had yet to really sink in. Her family and friends are very excited for her.
Maynard said he started getting text messages on the evening of Dec. 22 saying “congratulations,” and he thought that someone in his family may have won. He checked his computer and saw that the congratulatory messages were for the Hantsport Fire Department, which will receive the $1,000 bonus from the draw.
The Hantsport Fire Department has received approximately $79,000 to date through the Nova Scotia Firefighters 50-50, with more to come. The support has led to positive change.
