A failed Brampton mayoral candidate who was fired Tuesday from her director\u0027s job at the city alleges the move was unlawful.

Lawyer Frank Portman, of Massey LLP, sent notice to Diana Soos, Brampton’s acting city solicitor, about planned litigation. “Having reviewed the circumstances leading to her unlawful dismissal, it is clear that Ms. Kaur’s dismissal was targeted retaliation and formed part of a larger conspiracy against her involving senior staff at the city and the mayor’s office,” Portman wrote. “Specifically, Ms. Kaur’s termination is the culmination of a long conspiracy among senior city officials to silence her persistent efforts to expose wrongdoing and possible corruption in the city’s administration.
“This conspiracy included her 2021 dismissal and subsequent reinstatement, and was rooted in her recent mayoral campaign. This letter will serve as notice that Ms. Kaur is preparing to pursue litigation against the city regarding her unlawful termination and the conspiracy against her, and the damages that the city’s actions have caused her,” he added.“Given Mr.
