Edmonton man suspected of trafficking teens faces 34 charges: ALERT yeg

In May 2022, ALERT’s human trafficking unit began an investigation into the sexual exploitation of two 15-year-old girls, police said in a Wednesday news release. On Apr. 12, police charged Phillip Matombo with a total of 34 offences, including three counts of trafficking a person under 18, sexual assault, sexual interference, possession of child pornography, distributing child pornography, uttering threats to cause death, and a number of others, said police.Article content
Two additional underage girls were identified during the investigation who, police said, Matombo attempted to lure into the sex trade. The victims were apprehended by officers with the protection of sexually exploited children act and police said they continue to receive supports.
