Dwyane Wade's former wife has reportedly accused the NBA legend of exploiting their 15-year-old transgender daughter for financial gain.
Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, the mother of Wade’s two oldest children, asked a judge to impose an order that would ban their 15-year-old daughter Zaya from legally changing her gender from male to female until she turns 18.From our newsroom to your inbox at noon, the latest headlines, stories, opinion and photos from the Toronto Sun.By clicking on the sign up button you consent to receive the above newsletter from Postmedia Network Inc.
However, Funches-Wade wants Zaya to decide for herself when she turns 18, arguing Wade is pressuring his daughter because he can profit from her transition,“I have concerns that may be pressuring our child to move forward with the name and gender change in order to capitalize on the financial opportunities that he has received from companies,” she said in her legal filing.
It was a response to an August petition by Wade to allow Zaya to legally change her name from Zion Malachi Airamis Wade to Zaya Malachi Airamis Wade.Share this article in your social network
