Durham MP Erin O’Toole is going to be stepping down from his seat in the House of Commons.
O’Toole has represented the riding since 2012 and also led the federal Conservative Party from August 2020 until February 2022. “It has been the honour of a lifetime to serve my community in parliament and to also have the privilege to serve the country as a Minister and as Leader of the Opposition,” said O’Toole. “I am thankful to the people of Durham for their trust. I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to advance issues that I believe are critically important to our country – from veterans’ mental health, to military preparedness, nuclear energy, Arctic sovereignty and a range of other important issues.
