The driver of a van has serious injuries following a collision with a streetcar early Monday morning in downtown Toronto.

Toronto police told the Star there were two occupants in the van who had to be extricated from the vehicle and sent to hospital. While the driver of the van suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, the passenger only suffered minor injuries. There were no injuries to the operator of the streetcar nor to the passengers on it, according to police.The cause of the collision is still being determined, including whether alcohol, road conditions, weather or another aspect was a factor, police said.
