Northbound vehicle went into the centre median, veered to the barrier at the side of the road and took out a pole before overturning
The driver of a vehicle that rolled over on the Malahat at Mill Bay Road Thursday morning told police he hit a patch of water, say Shawnigan Lake RCMP, who were called to the crash about 8:20 a.m.
Cpl. Gregg Strom said it appears the northbound vehicle went into the centre median, veered to the barrier at the side of the road and took out a pole before overturning. The 57-year-old driver was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital with what Strom said appeared to be minor injuries.Strom said winds are causing other problems in the area, with a tree fallen in the 1800-block of East Shawnigan Lake Road and power lines down at midday Thursday. The road appeared to be largely passable, he said.
