Detroit Red Wings’ Tyler Bertuzzi out four to six weeks with an upper-body injury
Detroit Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde told the media Monday morning that forward Tyler Bertuzzi will be out four to six weeks with an upper-body injury.— Detroit Red Wings Bertuzzi, 27, suffered the injury during the second period of Saturday’s 5-2 win against the New Jersey Devils after awkwardly blocking a shot. He was seen in discomfort heading off the ice and would not return to the game.
It’s a significant loss for the Red Wings. The Sudbury, Ontario product registered a career high 30 goals last season, which included 18 even-strength goals. He was second behind captain Dylan Larkin for goals on the team. Bertuzzi also recorded a career-high of 32 assists, giving him 62 points on the year. Through just two games this season, Bertuzzi has one assist. The 2013 second-round 58th overall selection is in his seventh season with the Red Wings.
