Don returned to Ottawa after the war, while Tux went to work for the Southhampton Harbour Board. It might have ended there had Don’s mother, Gertrude, not invited Tux to visit in 1947. Exactly three months after Ottawa’s newspapers made note on their social pages of Tux’s arrival, her engagement to Don was announced. They married on Jan. 31, 1948, with children Barb and Robert eventually arriving. Tux died in 2000.
