The swearing in begins at 10 a.m. Members of the Musqueam First Nation will perform a blanketing ceremony after which Eby will swear the oath of office before Lt. Gov. Eby was named B.C. NDP leader and premier-designate on Oct. 21 after a divisive leadership campaign which ended in the disqualification of his only opponent, Anjali Appadurai. When he launched his leadership campaign in July, Eby said his idyllic upbringing in Kitchener, Ontario, made him realize he wanted to fight for those without the same opportunities. The oldest of four children, Eby’sLaura, was a Catholic school teacher and principal.
Before that he was a vocal civil rights lawyer fighting for people on the Downtown Eastside through Pivot Legal Society and speaking out against government and police overreach as executive director of the B.C. Civil Liberties Association.Article content
