There was growing concern at the time from experts and government officials that some of the millions of dollars raised for the Freedom Convoy via crowdfunding websites such as GoFundMe was coming from foreign threat actors hoping to destabilize Canada.
Vigneault said FINTRAC and banks were already tracking the money being fundraised for the convoy and “making sure that it is not used for a non-peaceful purpose.”
