Federal departments are updating their COVID guidelines, some of them dropping requirements to wear masks and practise physical distancing.

Previously revised on May 12, they had been amended to remove distancing requirements, reduce wait times for people physically going to work after being infected with COVID , and remove mask requirements except in certain higher-risk workplaces.Article content Nancy Caron, a spokesperson for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada , said that although masking and physical distancing is no longer required, employees are encouraged to adopt distancing where possible and maintain a mask-friendly environment.Article content
Caroline Czajkowski, a spokesperson for the department of Canadian Heritage, said that while there are no longer capacity limits in meeting rooms, distancing is encouraged where circumstances and space allow.Article content Despite the updated guidelines, some departments and agencies are choosing to keep certain measures in place.Article content
At ESDC, employees will continue to wear a mask when entering, leaving and moving about the workplace and when unable to maintain distancing, with measures to continue to be reviewed on a regular basis.Article content
