One, located at Barlow Trail and 114 Avenue S.E., is expected to be completed this spring while the other, located at 114th Avenue and 52nd Street S.E., should be up and running later in 2023.Together, the farms are expected to produce 64 megawatts of electricity, which would power about 18,000 homes.
Spencer said the city has a lot of policy that talks about incentivizing businesses to move towards low-carbon choices, but said there’s little in the way of concrete action on how it will do this. “Incentives from all levels of government are common and useful in accelerating the transition to renewable energy projects and, in turn, those renewable projects generate tax revenues to municipal governments,“ said Kadatz.
