Last weekend, an estimated 7,000 partiers crowded into the sector for “Faux Homecoming,” a pre-Homecoming event.there were 88 charges laid by Kingston police — 72 for open liquor, 13 for public intoxication, one for underage drinking and two Highway Traffic Act charges. There were also 36 noise and eight nuisance party complaints. In all, police responded to 65 calls in the University District.

Bylaw officers issued “administrative monetary penalties” totalling almost $70,000. Seventeen people were fined a total of $34,000 for “attending, hosting or sponsoring an aggravated nuisance party,” while 63 were charged a total of $31,500 for “failure to comply.” Twenty-one people were fined $4,200 for “amplification of sound.”
