Born and raised in Calgary, Reimer got her bachelor of science and MBA from the University of Calgary. She started her first business in 1999 relating to global technology, with headquarters and team members in Calgary. Among her numerous titles, she’s co-founder and CEO of Evoco Inc., CEO of Fillip and also helped launch the Creative Destruction Lab -Rockies.
“It’s been a very successful program to accelerate the pace of deep science and technology-based ventures out of the university,” she said.This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.“It’s really a very interesting opportunity,” she said. “Less than five per cent of venture capital — and the numbers are not trending in our favour — goes toward women-founded or women-led businesses.
“And we’ve also created some venture funds. We launched our first fund in 2020, announced our food and ag-tech fund this year and are now raising our third fund.”“We have work to do,” Reimer said. “I’m completely bullish on opportunities. The first part has been the awareness and education, and that’s what we’ve been on the journey to do. We appreciate that this is a collective and it requires that support of the venture community as a whole.
