Fire chief Tim Mamye says capital only needs two fire halls

According to an insurance underwriter’s report done for the city a number of years ago, a fire hall was sorely needed in the north end to cope with the growing population in neighbourhoods that included West Royalty and Winsloe. Mamye said that resulted in a change of plans in 2019 where council wanted to switch to a three-station operation.
SaltWire Network also spoke on Jan. 30 to a member of the Charlottetown Professional Firefighters Association , the union that represents career staff. It was told there would be no comment. Charlottetown Fire Chief Tim Mamye said the city has hit pause on a proposed third station, explaining that he doesn’t think three stations are needed. - Contributed
