CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — When Kali Ross and other members of Charlottetown Mutual Aid heard the City of Charlottetown was not opening a warming centre ahead ...
Though other community organizations did set up warming spaces, SaltWire Network called Mayor Philip Brown on Feb. 4 to ask about the city’s decision.
In response to pushback that the Jack Blanchard shelter was a community operation with city volunteers, Brown was adamant there is no difference in outcomes. As of 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 4, there was no mention of Jack Blanchard Hall or other warming sites, and the last “news” item on the city’s website was from Feb. 2: “Canada Games Legacy Project Ready for Skaters to Enjoy.”
