Canada will travel to face Curacao on March 25, and return to BMO Field in Toronto to host Honduras on March 28
As one of three co-hosts for the 2026 World Cup, Canada will get an automatic berth into the tournament and will play at least three group games as FIFA announced changes to the expanded 48-team format earlier this week.
“These are things we need to put more attention on. Against Belgium we had 24 shots towards goal and we weren’t able to convert. What we train is what we become, and a lot of our work in the foundation phase going into Qatar, was around our progression and denying progression. And now we got to get into the finer details of how to score against Tier 1 teams.”
The only games outside its confederation Canada played heading into the World Cup came in friendlies against Uruguay, Qatar, Bahrain and Japan. With a Concacaf Gold Cup on the horizon and possible Copa America appearance in 2024, which has been expanded to include North American teams, there will be opportunity to get in a lot of quality games in the next couple of years.Article content
