Tanner Cook and Taylor Pace score three each as the Calgary Roughnecks defeat the Colorado Mammoth 13\u002D12 to force Game 3 in the West finals.
Also for the Roughnecks, it was Christian Del Bianco making 32 saves.
Dan Taylor got the next goal — on a hot shot — in favour of the Riggers, but that didn’t happen until midway through the second frame, after which power-play goals were exchanged by Roughnecks star Tyler Pace — again on a hot shot — and Mammoth man Zed Williams. Just 81 seconds in, Pace started third-quarter scoring with a goal in tight, converting Cook’s smart feed.
And after Dylan Kinnear snuck a rebound in for the Mammoth, Zach Currier drove the net and dove across to shove a shot in far-side.“Our resolve is amazing,” said Roughnecks head coach Curt Malawsky. “That’s a really good lacrosse team over there. It’s a series for a reason. It’s back and forth. It’s like you’re playing ping pong. They bang it back. We bang it back. It’s the way it is, and you’ve got to learn from those games.
But Cook came back with his hat-trick goal to stop the bleeding, and Pace followed with his third goal, as well.
