Iconic weatherman on CFCF\u002D12 was also the host of the station’s McGowan’s World and Travel, Travel. He has died following a brief illness at age 85.

CFCF-12’s Pulse News desk circa 1968/69: Don McGowan covering weather, Andrew Marquis, news anchor, and Ron Reusch covering sports.And a career was born. Following that stint, McGowan landed TV jobs in Quebec City and Cornwall. He would end up on CFCF-12 a year after it was launched in 1961 and would work alongside such broadcasting stalwarts as news anchors Bill Haugland and Mutsumi Takahashi and sports announcers Dick Irvin and Ron Reusch on the famed Pulse newscast.
“But he also took me under his wing and taught me a lot about the whole idea of broadcasting. He was the consummate pro. He was just so professional and just so smooth, but I also know he worked so hard at it. And he made sure that his performance would be perfect, and it was. He also made it look just so effortless.
