'We have made the decision to close all locations until further notice as we work to correct the issue'
The Gateway Casino in Sault Ste. Marie was temporarily shut down on Sunday, along with other Gateway casino locations.
Gateway Casinos and Entertainment, the company that operates casinos in the Sault, Sudbury and several other locations in Ontario including Casino Rama and dozens of other casinos in Canada, posted a notice on their Facebook page that all of their gaming facilities were closed as of 1 p.m. "All Gateway Ontario sites will close due to a system-wide malfunction until further notice," says the two-sentence statement posted on social media.
According to its website, Gateway is one of the largest and most diversified gaming and entertainment companies in Canada with 29 gaming properties in British Columbia and Ontario and two additional properties in Edmonton, Alberta. In a statement at around 7 p.m. Sunday, Gateway said: "Earlier today all Gateway casino sites across Ontario experienced a system-wide IT outage. We have made the decision to close all locations until further notice as we work to correct the issue."
