A proposed pilot project would see signal-blocking Faraday cases given for free to car owners to secure their key FOBs in five areas of Brampton in an effort to reduce auto thefts.Brown said auto thefts have increased dramatically since 2019 across Canada, not just in Brampton. But in Peel Region alone, police statistics show there were 5,811 vehicles stolen in 2022, up 97% from the 3,119 vehicles that were stolen in 2019.Article content
