A 12-year-old boy who was assaulted at Ski Martock last month has been overwhelmed by support he has received since the incident, his mother says.assaulted at Ski Martock last month
Neither she nor her son can be identified because the Youth Criminal Justice Act prohibits publishing anything that identifies the victim of a youth crime proceeding. A 13-year-old has been charged with assault in the case. She said the physical injuries didn’t bother her son, as “I think he was more stunned that someone would beat him. His biggest upset was that they recorded it. That was the biggest violation that he felt.”“He’s just overwhelmed,” she said of the response to the incident. Messages have come to him through her from as far away as British Columbia and Kuwait.
She said her son has been bullied before, and they decided that rather than people sending him gifts and items as a show of support, they would rather see donations that help people who might have gone through the same thing. As a result, they started suggesting that people offering material items instead make a donation to the Landmark East school in Wolfville, which specializes in teaching students who have learning disabilities and who may have been bullied as a result.
