A teenage boy already on a court-ordered driving prohibition is alleged to have stolen a cab in St. John's on Saturday night and drove to Clarenville, stealing gas and striking a parked car along the way.
After the arrest, Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in St. John's confirmed that the cab was stolen in the city around midnight. Police said that the youth also stole gas at around 1:45 a.m., filling up the stolen taxi cab at a gas station on the Trans-Canada Highway in Goobies.
The youth appeared in court on Sunday via teleconference and was held in custody overnight. He was remanded into custody on Monday and taken to the Newfoundland and Labrador Youth Centre, where he will remain until his next court appearance on Dec. 20.
