Gregor Chisholm: Blue Jays prospect watch: Ricky Tiedemann, Addison Barger lead middle-of-the-pack minor-league system
After graduating a slew of top prospects to the majors and trading others away toa dry spell in the minors was expected. How long it lasts dictate whether the Jays’ window of opportunity begins to close in the coming years or remains wide open for the foreseeable future.
Most of the major media outlets who specialize in prospects consider the Jays to have a middle-of-the-pack system. Their average spot largely stems from a lack of high-impact prospects who are close to making their debuts with leftyas the lone Jay on the Top 100 lists for MLB Pipeline, Baseball America and The Athletic.
Recent additions to the system such as 2022 top picks Brandon Barriera and Tucker Toman, along with international signee Enmanuel Bonilla, might eventually get there but all three require patience. More seasoned prospects like Addison Barger and Orelvis Martinez will look to use this season as a springboard to what they hope become long careers.
