West Australian resources sector sales hit a record $231 billion in 2021-22 despite a sharp fall in iron ore prices that was offset by theResources sector jobs are at a record amid the latest boom in WA, where growing demand for battery minerals has been accompanied by a spike in LNG sales as the world grapples with energy transition.

It is the fourth year in a row the sector has delivered record sales, starting with $151 billion in 2018-19. The petroleum sector made a strong recovery following the pandemic downturn with LNG production and condensate production valued at records of $38 billion and $8.6 billion respectively.
