B.C. Securities Commission got a tip about a trio promoting the U.S. company, Massachusetts and Florida\u002Dbased DFRF Enterprises, in 2015

The BCSC got a tip about the B.C. residents promoting the U.S. “gold-mining” company, Massachusetts and Florida-based DFRF Enterprises, in 2015. It ruled against the accused fraudsters last October, noting Wei, Villarin and Law knew, or should have known, the companies’ claims were fraudulent but continued to promote them to investors.

None of the money was used on gold mining and DFRF made no money from the supposed operation, only collecting any of its proceeds from duped investors.Article content The scheme initially landed on the radar of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and was orchestrated by Daniel Fernandes Rojo Filho and associates. The SEC characterized it as a Ponzi or pyramid scheme that pulled in US$15 million from a total of over 1,400 investors.
